The Community Development Department is currently accepting applications for an internship in the Planning Services Division (January - February 2008 with possibility of extension).  The majority of the duties will involve assisting transportation planning staff with creating and updating GIS data and writing a Safe Routes to School Plan.  Other responsibilities may include, assistance with research, data collection and analysis for various projects.

Candidates should have demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS 9.1 or higher software and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented, have strong writing skills, and be able to think creatively as well as analytically. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed course work in transportation planning, urban planning, geography, cartography, or a directly related field of study.  Hourly compensation rate based on experience and qualifications ($10.00-$12.00).
