The City of Iowa City is
currently accepting applications for an Associate Planner. This planner
will work in the Urban Planning area and focuses in the area of historic
preservation.
This position offers the
opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects including historic
preservation, zoning, subdivision review and comprehensive planning. This
planner may also serve on the Staff Design Review Committee, which reviews
the design of downtown development proposals and infill apartment
buildings. In a typical work week this planner will assist owners of
historic buildings with renovation plans and drawings, consult with other
City staff regarding zoning and development proposals, prepare and present
written and oral reports and recommendations to the Historic Preservation
Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
This position requires a
bachelor’s degree from a DOE recognized accredited school in urban planning
or a related field and one year of experience in urban planning. A Master’s
degree from a DOE recognized accredited school is preferred and may
substitute for experience requirement. Design skills and education or
experience in historic preservation are desirable.
Full salary range for
this position is $45,594-$57,387. The hiring range is $45,594-$49,878.
