Director of Community Development and Assessment

The City of Neenah seeks an experienced, proactive leader to organize, direct and manage the City’s planning, development, economic development, property appraisal and assessment, inspections, code enforcement, housing, redevelopment, grants, and human services programs and activities. The work is performed under the direction of the Mayor. 

Requirements include Masters Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field, or Bachelors Degree with comparable experience; seven years progressively responsible municipal planning and community development experience, with a minimum three years of supervisory experience in planning, economic development, property appraisal and assessment, brownfield redevelopment, zoning, inspections and code enforcement, and grant administration; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.  Applicants must have a proven track record of managing complex economic development projects to successful completion.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate and communicate well with business leaders, and to advocate for and lead dynamic public-private partnership initiatives. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required.

Regular participation in Common Council, Board of Public Works, Community Development Authority, and Business Improvement District Board meetings; and frequent participation in Plan Commission, Finance & Personnel Committee, and Public Services and Safety Committee are required.
