Deputy Director of Economic Development

Salary:  $60,00 – 80,000 Depending Upon Qualifications

Antioch’s mission is to enhance and preserve a high quality of life by providing fiscally sound and responsive services, programs and facilities with the highest degree of professionalism, integrity and efficiency so that Antioch continues to be a great place to live and work. Antioch seeks a full time Deputy Director of Economic Development to survey, promote, foster and advise the Village and various segments of the business community as to the ways and means to maintain and promote the economic, commercial and industrial development of the Village.  The incumbent in this position identifies opportunities for redevelopment, creates redevelopment plans, and manages plans to completion. Establishes ties with commercial property owners for the purpose of providing counsel in the form of property market values, current square footage leasing rates and providing information on prospective businesses seeking to locate in the Village of Antioch.  Provides management and retention of the Village’s downtown and surrounding areas and stimulates new business recruitment and development.

Requirements:

Knowledge of community development and redevelopment and the laws, ordinances and finance options related to such. Experience in the full cycle of small business ownership and operation.  Ability to effectively work with consultants to develop and orchestrate both the short and long term goals for the Village’s economic development.

Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in City Planning or related field; Masters Degree preferred; Education or work experience in a technical field such as architecture or civil engineering is highly desirable, as is progressive experience in Economic Development.

Experience in acquiring funding through grants and alternative funding sources. Related work experience of 5 years or more, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that produces the competencies desired for the position.
