Planner I / Neighborhood Preservation Officer

The City of Ashland’s
Planner I / Neighborhood Preservation Officer
position will assist with
daily and long term duties of the Department of Planning and Development, including:
interpreting and enforcing City ordinances related to zoning; various urban planning projects;
permitting of development; and facilitating economic development. Up to 20 hours per week will
be dedicated to enforcing the City’s Property Maintenance Code, to improve the overall
maintenance and appearance of properties in Ashland.
Ideal candidates will have leadership abilities, knowledge of local government procedures, and
the ability to communicate effectively. Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in planning,
geography, or a related field and at least one-year related experience (which may include an
internship). An equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in local
government, may be considered.
Salary
range: $35,360 – $41,600 (DOQ) with an excellent
fringe benefit package, including Wisconsin retirement and life, health and dental insurance.
