AICP Student Project Award NominationUniversity of Wisconsin - Milwaukee"Tulane/Gravier Regulating Plan and Form-Based Code"
Powerpoint used for Final Presentation to Phoenix of New Orleans, May 2007 Boards Tulane/Gravier is one of New Orleans’ many historic neighborhoods. The area is often considered to be “Lower Mid-City”, part of the well-known Mid-City neighborhood, but recently Tulane/Gravier has begun to establish its own independent identity. Located northwest of the Superdome, it is immediately adjacent to, but separated from the City’s central business district and the French Quarter by Interstate 10 (I-10). In Spring 2007, students at the University of Wisconsin - MIlwaukee's Master of Urban Planning program assisted a neighborhood reconstruction organzation, Phoenix of New Orleans (PNOLA), to develop a plan that would allow PNOLA and neighborhood residents and other stakeholders to better guide the course of redevelopment following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the massive flooding of Tulane/Gravier that occurred in the wake of Katrina. The faculty advisors for the project, Carolyn Esswein and Nancy Frank, nominate this project for a national AICP Student Project Award.
